Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has revealed that resigning from his position as Majority Leader was the best decision he ever made.

The Suame MP stated that his primary motivation was to prevent disunity within the Majority front in Parliament.

Speaking to journalists in Kumasi for the first time since his resignation in February, Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said he has no regrets about his decision to step down.

He said he is fixated and dedicated to ensuring that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is elected president in the December polls.

“The major project ahead of us is breaking the eight and the project that I believe in is getting [Dr. Mahamudu] Bawumia elected as the president of this country and I don’t want to be part of anything that will obstruct that or negatively impact that, I don’t want to be part of it. I don’t want to be the eye of the storm and so I think it was the best decision I took.”

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu resigned as Majority Leader on February 21, 2024, after a meeting with some leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the Jubilee House.

He was replaced by the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
