Wa East: NPP PC urges constituents to vote massively for the NPP to recapture the seat
The ruling New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Wa East Constituency Mr. Edwura Suleman Kandia Mahama has successfully filed his nomination officially indicating his readiness to go after the parliamentary slot of the Wa East constituency in the Upper West Region.
Addressing charged up party faithful at Funsi after filing the nomination on September 9, 2024, the candidate indicated that, the party is battle ready to secure the parliamentary seat of the constituency and and appealed to the constituents to vote massively for the NPP to get Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ascends the highest seat of the country at the Jubilee house whiles he also unseat the imcumbent MP for the seat.
He was optimistic that the elephant fraternity in the constituency is formidable and strongly bonded to dethrone the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Wa East Constituency.
“We are committed and battle ready, this seat is our seat, it is only misunderstanding at times we play and then we play it out and this time there is no room for that, we are going to take this seat and we are taking it hands down. Come December 7, we will all have to rally behind our presidential candidate as well as me to win and it is possible. We have already won; we are only doing finishing touches, December 7, we will send Dr. Bawumia to the Jubilee house and I will also unseat the MP for the seat”.
He further revealed that the Nana Addo/Bawumia led NPP government has channeled a lot of development projects to the constituency spanning from roads, schools, health care to that of Social intervention programs, stressing that, the party is poised at consolidating its gains coupled with the initiatives and social interventions put in motion to better the lives of constituents.
“It is about track records and it is about data, the district is our brain child, NPP brought the district, any monumental development you can see is about NPP, talk of the Kulung bridge, talk of the Angbalara bridge, it’s about NPP, so our people know that if there is any party to go by it is the NPP because they have given us district and they adding development” he stated.
The DCE again indicated that, the constituency is a rural constituency and has challenges like any other rural constituency, but was emphatic that, the government and his outfit are tackling such challenges head on.
The PC also menioned that, as part of reducing the unemployement rate in the district, he has facilitated the recruitment of over 54 youth from the constituency into the public payroll adding that, several others are yet to be enrolled into the public sector.
“This is a rural constituency and our problems are common like any rural constituency, look at our roads it is one thing I am tackling, currently it is happening live from Boli going to Kulpong, if you go to Yaala going towards Wa, you will see what is happening, also unemployment is one issue we are tackling but I want to happily announce to you that, we have facilitated and got people on payroll 54 of them, I am telling you that in about two months from now I will be adding some numbers to it” Dr. Edwurah noted.
Hon. Jotie Moses, immediate former DCE of the Wa East district, noted that the NPP has won the seat several times and winning it again will not be anything new stressing that, the party is well prepared to deliver the task of winning the constituency both presidential and parliamentary adding that, the party is more united and formidable.
“There are two elections we are to undertake, parliamentary and presidential and we all ready and prepared to canvass vote for the parliamentary and as well canvass massive votes for the presidential and we will win both parliamentary and presidential. We are royals, this is not the first time we are winning this seat, we are going to win the presidential and recapture the seat from the NDC” Hon. Jotie stated.
On his part, Hon. Halitu Isaac, Former Upper West Regional Secretary of the NPP in his submission further affirmed that the party is in touched with the constituents adding that, with dedication and commitment they are going to deliver the Wa East Parliamentary seat for the NPP.
“We are in this business to win elections not to participate, so the assurance is that we are in the business to win, we have won the seat three times, is has never been easy if you understand the dynamics of the constituency but with commitment, dedication, unity in purpose why not, if we could win it three times why not” Hon. Isaac quizzes.
Meanwhile, the immediate Former Wa East Constituency Chairman, Samsideen Saeed urged the youth of the party to go all out and campaign massively for the party. He says, the big agenda of the party is to deliver the seat appealing to the NPP faithful in the constituency to go into the houses including the known NDC members and get them convinced to vote for the NPP.
In furtherance, the Wa East Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Party, Alhaj Sumaila Kankronye preached for unity amongst party members and called on them to attract more people to the party whiles urging them eschew statements that breed disunity and may chase people from the party.
He assured the ardent elephant youth of the party that, the parliamentary seat of the NPP will be recaptured from the NDC if they continue with the enthusiasms exhibited by party functionaries during the filing of nomination forms of the parliamentary candidate.
The event got exhilarated with traditional druming and dancing by the constituents and party functionaries of the elephant family expressing their hope that victory will be ceded to the ruling New Patriotic Party come December 7, 2024.
The rapturous youth of the party painted Funsi’s town with the elephant party colours showcasing how rooted and formidable the NPP is in its quest to wining the 2024 general elections.
