THE PURC UPPER WEST REGION HELD THEIR MAIDEN COFFEE BREAK INITIATIVE IN WA
The Upper West Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), held one of its initiatives dubbed: Coffee Break, aimed at extensively engaging consumers in the Region. This forms part of efforts to educating the consuming public on the Commission’s mandate and deepening awareness of the Commission in the region.
In order to enhance the visibility of the Commission and enlighten the good people of the Upper West Region concerning the operations of PURC, the Regional office developed a novel concept dubbed “Effective Regulation, through strategic Collaboration for Strategic Impact”.
The “Coffee Break” initiative is aimed at pitching a Camp at a Particular Location to deepen awareness of the operations of the Commission in Upper West Region, as well as understand the challenges of the regulated Utilities and the Consuming Public in the utility sector in the region.
The team had interaction with shoppers and passengers at a camp pitched at the Main Kejetia Total Energies Fuel station on June 27, 2024.
The Team also set-up a complaints Desk for consumers at the grounds where unresolved Complaints lodged with the service providers were taken for onward resolution.
The team distributed some leaflets, posters on energy and Water conversation to the Consumers.
Consumers were educated on the following:
• Mandates and Functions of the Commission
• Complaint Management Procedures
• The Second Quarter Tariff Review • Guidelines on the Capital Contribution Policy
• Rights and Responsibilities of Consumers
• New Service Connection Procedure, among others.
The team engaged variety of Comsumers, most of whom were consumers outside the business capital who only visit market days.
