The political atmosphere in the Wa East District has been set agog as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) prepares to vet candidates for the prestigious position of District Chief Executive (DCE).

The party has scheduled 20th to 26th January, 2025 to carry out the vetting of 168 applicants drawn from the regions 11 local government areas amongst the districts, Municipal’s and metropolitan areas.

This exercises are scheduled to take place at the old Residency in Wa, where all the applicants and their sympathisers will converge.

The Nandom and Wa East Districts have some of the finest candidates whose names according to deep throat sources within party have risen to the forefront as the favourite to lead the districts .

Meanwhile, our sources within the party are whispering about one Ahmed Mankama renowned for his impeccable track record within the Wa East political space, He appeared to have gathered significant support from both the party’s executive hierarchy , elders and the grassroots for been in the trenches and bushes with them for long time.

Party insiders suggest that Mankama is not just a candidate in the running but “the choice of the system who has endured with the party in patience , whose appointment will be admired by all sections of the political divide”.

This place his nomination to align seamlessly with the strategic direction of the NDC as the party positions itself for governance under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
