Kpongu: Thousands of NDC party faithful defy sleep to welcome John Dramani Mahama
Thousands of members of the largest opposition National Democratic have poured out late in the night defying their sleep to welcome H.E John Dramani Mahama, during a visit of the NDC’s Flagbearer to Kpongu as part of his 3-day tour of the Upper West Region.
H.E John Dramani Mahama while addressing the people of Kpongu indicated that, the time is due for the elephant party to be voted out of power to reflect on the harm they have done to Ghana.
“The time has come for the elephant to go back to the reserve, the forest reserve is not far from here, let’s send the elephant back into the bush, it has done more harm to Ghanaians, we have to send them to opposition so that they can reflect on the harm they have caused us”.
The NDC 2024 Presidential Candidate queried the claim of the NPP that it has built more roads than any other government in the history of the fourth Republic stressing that, the deplorable nature of major roads connecting the region to other regions speak otherwise of the NPP’s claim of building more roads.
He said, it was his expectation that the current administration would have completed the Wa-Tumu-Naverongo-Bolga road by now as it was awarded on contract before the NDC left power in 2016, stressing that, the next NDC government would fix the Wa-Bole-Bamboi-Wenchi-Techiman road as well as the Wa-Tumu-Naverongo-Bolga road.
“Every year the NPP declares year of roads, year of roads, I am in the Upper West Region, please tell me where your share of the 12,000 roads the NPP built, when we come to the office we will prioritize the Upper West roads, Wa is the regional capital we will give you what deserves you” John Mahama added.
On Hajj Fees;
H.E John Dramani Mahama hinted of reducing the Hajj fees for Muslims to perform their pilgrimage expressing his disappointment over the inability of the NPP government to reduce the Hajj fees for the Muslim Ummah rather left it to sky rocket from GH¢11,900 the NDC left it in 2016 to GH¢75,000 as at 2024.
“When NDC was in office it cost GH¢11,900 to go to Hajj , today to go to Mecca you need GH¢75,000, this could send about 7 people to Mecca the time NDC was in power, we promised that when we come to power we will reduce the Hajj fees drastically” he noted.
The NDC 2024 Presidential Candidate seized the opportunity and called on the people of Wa Central Constituency to vote massively for him and the Member of Parliament for the Wa Central Dr. Hassan Rashid Pelpuo.
He was optimistic that, the NDC will win the 2024 general elections hence his plea to the people of Wa Central to vote and retain Dr. Hassan Rashid Pelpuo.
“NDC is going to win the elections, I don’t want you to give me any small baby elephant to follow me, vote for Dr. Hassan Rashid Pelpuo so that he can follow me”.
The Former President is expected to visit Funsi in the Wa East Constituency, Tumu in the Sissala East Constituency as well as Gwullo in the Sissala West Constituency amongst others as part of his seconday of the three 3-day tour of the Upper West Region.
