GES COUNCIL CHAIRMAN SPEAKS AT LIVELY MINDS FORUM

Chairman of the Ghana Education Service Council, Mr. Michael Kenneth Nsowah has described the maiden gathering of GES-Lively Minds Coordinators [LMCs] as a meeting of teachers to change the face of teaching and learning in Ghana.

According to him, the GES- Lively Minds Programme aimed at getting all teachers and coordinators involved under the programme the right internationally adopted teaching methodologies downstream to the benefit of the rural pupil.

The veteran educationist described the progress of the scale up of the GES- Lively Minds Programme in Oti and Northern belt of Ghana as a dream come through.

“GES – Lively Minds is a dream comes through because we have covered 52 operating districts out of the original plan of 60 districts”

Mr. Nsowah made the remarks at the maiden meeting of both Regional and District LMCs held at Radach Conference hall in Tamale on Monday 6 May 2024.

In providing an overview of the progress of the programme, the country representative of the GES – Lively Minds Programme, Mr. James Awuni was optimistic that by the end of the three day conference participants would have new knowledge gained, old practices refined and deep bounds of collaborations would be forged.

He added that through collaborative efforts, the GES Lively Minds Programme since its scale up in September 2021 has reached Fifty Two [52] districts in Eight [8] regions of Ghana.

The programme has so far trained Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty Four [ 9,734] head teachers and teachers, Two Thousand [2,000] kindergarten learners already on the programme and has trained over one hundred thousand mothers [100,000] who are providing play scheme services in schools and early childhood care at home.

Mr. James added that the programme has come this far by empowering all stakeholders through series of training and capacity building sessions.
