Flagbearer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress, H.E John Dramani Mahama has stated that, Lambussie would be considered as the second community after Gwullo to get the farmer service center.

He said, it is one of the flagship programs of the next NDC government that will be targeted at communities where their main source of occupation is farming.

H.E John Mahama underscored the importance of the center to potential beneficiaries adding that, each center would have 15 agricultural machines that will aid farmers in ploughing, harrowing, planting amongst other key farming activities.

The NDC 2024 Presidential candidate mentioned that, the NDC government cut the sod for the commencement of the Gwullo farmer service center but the project got stalled after the NDC left power and the next government got the funds withdrawn.

The former President emphasized that, the next NDC government will ensure that Gwullo and Lambussie communities are part of the first batch of communities to be considered during the building of the farmer service centers.

“One of our major flagship programs is the farmer service centers, the farmer service centers are aimed at targeting at places where agriculture is the main occupation of the people and I know that in Lambussie agriculture is the main occupation, so part from Gwullo, I cut the sod in 2016 for the first farmer service center and then we didn’t win the elections, we had brought the money in but we hadn’t started when we left office and this government came and said they were gonna look in to it and all that, and eventually, the money was withdrawn so that center was not built, but apart from Gwullo as professor was saying he wants Lambussie to be one of the first, so the only one that I know will precede you is Gwullo because I cut the sod for it and I am sure after Gwullo, Lambussie will be the next place we will look at” John Mahama stated.

H.E John Mahama further noted that, the next NDC government will be upgrading some major roads with the area to ease mobility for the smooth transportation of farm produces to the regional capital.

His visit to the Lambussie community forms part of activities of the last day of his 3-day campaign tour of the Upper West Region.

The former President is expected to tour all the eleven constituencies of the Upper West Region to sell the message of the NDC to the people of the Upper West Region to cede power to the National Democratic Congress.

He has been urging the people of Ghana to consider chasing the elephant back into the bush by voting out the NPP and bringing back the NDC to reset Ghana back to its rightful position.

Meanwhile, the paramount Chief of the Lambussie traditional area, Kuoro Issaka Kazie Tenjie II, seized the opportunity and expressed his gratitude to the former president for rehabilitating the Piina Bubele Dam for the people of the traditional area.

He also noted that, the Lambussie traditional area benefited a lot of developmental projects during the era of the NDC and was optimistic that the next NDC government will send down more developmental projects to the Lambussie area.

However, the Parliamentary Candidate of the Lambussie Constituency, Prof. Titus Beyuo appealed to the NDC Flagbearer to consider providing the district with a radio station stressing that the Lambussie district is the only district in the region without a radio station.
